About Andrea

Andrea Peeples has spent her entire career in public service.  A veteran prosecutor, she has worked hard to promote confidence in our legal system and protect our communities from crime.

Andrea graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1991.  Andrea then attended law school at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1994 with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

After graduating from law school, Andrea began her career as an Assistant City Prosecutor with the City of Columbus, regularly trying cases in the Franklin County Municipal Court.  In 1996 Andrea was assigned to the City Prosecutor’s Domestic Violence Unit.  In this office, Andrea prosecuted dozens of domestic violence cases against repeat offenders and trained law enforcement officers on proper report taking techniques and courtroom procedures.

In 1998 Andrea moved to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office.  She served as an Assistant County Prosecutor for two years, starting in the Juvenile Division where she prosecuted a variety of cases, ranging from misdemeanor to felony and devoted much of her time to neglect, abuse and dependency issues.  After being transferred to the General Division, she
regularly prosecuted cases against adult felons, with offenses ranging from drug possession to homicide.

In 1999 Andrea returned to the City of Columbus as an Assistant City Attorney.  Initially serving in the Civil Litigation Unit, she was selected to be part of the team that successfully defended the City of Columbus in a major lawsuit brought by the Department of Justice.  In this unit, Andrea spearheaded the development of a racial profiling policy that set the standard for municipalities across Ohio.

Andrea is involved in numerous community organizations including Mayor Coleman’s Neighborhood Safety Working Group and has served as a board member for the Art for Community Expression (ACE) organization. She often visits neighborhood associations and church groups explaining liquor regulations to concerned citizens.
